Course Outline

This one day course will give you an insight into dental sleep medicine. You will learn how to screen your adult patients for sleep disordered breathing and how to manage these patients effectively. ​Aims & Objectives To understand what sleep is and why it is important. Learn about the different sleep disorders and relevance to dentistry. Understand the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Learn how to screen patients for sleep disordered breathing. Understand the different treatment options available for OSA. Learn how to make a mandibular advancement device, including the fitting and titration. Managing complications and medicolegal requirements. About The Speaker: Dr Clare Simon is the lead and founder of The London Dental Sleep Clinic. She qualified from King’s College London dental school in 2010. Since then she went on to gain her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery in 2012. Dr Simon has over a decade's worth of experience in general practice and now chooses to dedicate her time solely to dental sleep medicine. She was one of the first UK dentists to attend the British Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine Masterclass organised by the British Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr Simon served on the board for the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine and continuously furthers her education in this field. She also runs courses to train other dentists in dental sleep medicine. Clare is passionate about her charity work and serves on the sleep council advisory board for The Sleep Charity.
